DS8 got glasses when he was four. We have been buying the kind that are extremely flexible. You can literally wad them up in a ball without any damage to the frames or arms. In four years of ownership, we have not had anything break yet. <knock on wood!> They are much more expensive, so it is difficult to decide if they are worth it or not??? Since your son is now eight, it may not be as critical as when they are very small. OTOH, he is also old enough that you may not have to buy new frames every 8 months to a year since their head grows so much in those early years. So you might get more wear out of the flexible kind, thus making it cost efficient. Just thought I would throw that out there for consideration.
