Dear all,
Desperate parent here seeking help in interpreting discrepancy between WIAT-3 and CTOPP-2 scores.
WIAT-3:
Word Reading / 129 score / 97 percentile
Pseudoword Decoding / 124 score / 95 percentile
Reading Comprehension / 119 score / 90 percentile
Oral Reading Fluency / 125 score / 95 percentile
CTOPP-2:
Elision / 11 scaled score / Average
Blending Words / 7 scaled score / Below Average
Phoneme Isolation / 8 scaled score / Average
Memory for Digits / 14 scaled score / Above Average
Non-word Repetition / 13 scaled score / Above Average
Rapid Digit Naming / 15 scaled score / Superior
Rapid Letter Naming / 14 scaled score / Above Average
Is this indicative of a dyslexic profile??? I am confused by the discrepant results shown by the WIAT-3 and CTOPP-2. Although dyslexia was not diagnosed by the psychologist, I am still puzzled by the relatively low phonological awareness in the CTOPP-2 test, relative to cognitive abilities.
Some further information : My son is 9 years old and tested highly gifted on the WISC-V with 146 FSIQ. No major discrepancies within the composite scores (i.e. scores were within 20 points difference across VCI,VSI,FRI,WMI and PSI).
Look forward to receiving your views on the profile above! Thank you!
