I homeschool. I am probably going to pursue testing for my two oldest kids in about a year, largely to see if they are eligible to apply to DYS.
I know we'll get IQ results from this testing (overall and in separate areas, if I understand correctly). But I see people talking about how their testing showed such-and-such an issue alongside gifted-level IQ--for example, slow processing speed. Are those results something that show up as part of doing (for example) the WISC? Or are they the results of additional testing?
What about overexcitabilities? I have one kid whose picture may as well be included next to descriptions of emotional OE and one who's the same with psychomotor OE. But that's "Mom diagnosis." Will the report from (again for example) the WISC include anything about those? Or are they diagnosed separately...or are they even something that people DO diagnose?
I just feel like I don't really know exactly what I'm signing up for when I say "let's test these kids for giftedness." I would greatly appreciate feedback from those who've been there and done that!
