I don't know much about the scores, but DS8 was tested in K and 1st with SAT 10. FYI, at the very least, those scores qualify him to take the JHU CTY SCAT talent search (>95% in math or reading, I believe). All those upper 90's say smart to me, and whether or not the school thinks smart, he clearly knows his stuff. Really, if he's at 99, how many kids are doing better than he is? Seems to me you can get some mileage out of those results with the school, but I'll leave the specifics to more knowledgable posters.

No, you're not. And I don't remember your DS's school experiences, but often elementary school teachers focus on things like behavior or writing (b/c that's what they're working on at that age) and miss the rest of the package. That was certainly our experience.
