The teacher does know he's left handed. I'm not sure she "buys into" the idea of giftedness and she doesn't seem concerned about his writing. Very little academics are done there until kindergarten so I don't think he has a lot of opportunity to notice that he's advanced. Most of the other kids there (small class of only 7) are a full year older but my son is super tall (youngest but also tallest in class).
I am unsure if I should let it be, not worry about the academics and just let him grow the social/emotional skills.... Or do I need to step in and "correct" or redirect his work habits, effort, etc so it doesn't become a problem later on down the road. I don't want him to think its ok to do the work part half way but I also don't want to create more of a problem then it is...
I'm well aware that motivation and engagement are huge keys to success so at this ground level I'm focuing on it more so than the skills themselves (plus he's already well well well beyond what's expected of him.)
Any advice?
