As my child has reached middle school age, we are starting to perceive that the children my friend claims as her friends are not reciprocating invitations to come over, or are having parents give reasons not to come over. As parents we're puzzled at what is happening, worried as to what might be happening that is pushing these kids and/or parents away. My daughter can be shy and aloof and have trouble talking to adults. We also have difficulty getting my daughter to talk to us about anything personal, so we have no real insight to her friendships beyond the superficial.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Suggestions?
