Were possibly meeting with school officials next week and have a question regarding cognitive ability and Single Subject Acceleration as it relates to the Iowa Acceleration Scale. As we understand it, the Iowa acceleration scale has an IQ cutoff for Whole Grade Acceleration, however, is there anything contained in the Iowa Acceleration Scale users guide that references an IQ cutoff for Single Subject Acceleration?
More specifically, if a child has an IQ in the “high average” (but less than 115), does the Iowa Acceleration Scale say, suggest, or mandate that the child should not be considered for Single Subject Acceleration.
When, and if, we meet with school officials we don’t want to come off as uninformed.
