What about claiming that 'Spanish Culture' is you orrientation, and saying that trying to learn in a language/culture that isn't her home one is damaging her self-seteem? And that you've only recently come to realize how important this is to you that she maintain her Spanish heritage?

Sounds far-fetched, but I believe that was the intent of the law-loophole, yes?
