FWIW, my DD follows the 'stereotype' for the WISC IV showing a disparity of >99.9 VCI (150) and 99.9 PRI (145)
but
on achievement WJ-III the pattern reversed - only 136 for broad reading but 168 for broad maths with a 178 on maths calc skills.
I also saw her 'playing' with the blocks (enjoying having a problem to mull over and investigating the potential of the blocks) instead of just doing the task. She did every one but not in the allotted time so I would take the VCI/PRI disparity with a grain of salt.
