It was a hard problem to solve. But, my dd learned to have a doll read the instructions because of course the doll needed instructions that dd didn't necessarily need. It can make the difference between an A paper and a failing paper.
I have a kid on the opposite side too. He sees a paragraph of instruction and his first reaction is that this is going to take a lot of careful thought, better wait before even reading the instructions. And look my pencil needs sharpening. Can't start til we do that! Oh no, the paper fell on the floor. I think my toe itches.
OMG this is my DS, look that's shiny, how about that picture on the wall I've seen 1000x it's soooo interesting! Although I don't think my DS is thinking it will need careful thought rather that it will require work. If it did require thought maybe it would catch his attention - nah, probably not!
