So we just had the mtg. re: dd11 skipping 6th grade and starting 7th in August. It was actually pleasant! Everyone was fully supportive--I was so proud of her hearing all of the elementary people say how well she had done considering we just moved in March. They use the IAS, it said she was an excellent candidate for a skip, and everyone agreed.

The MS guidance counselor had the concerns you would expect a MS counselor to express, and it was great to hear how the elementary counselor responded with her opinion of dd. She will be in the advanced content (honors) classes but not in the super-accelerated math which is what we wanted. I think I do need to follow-up with a middle school math teacher just to find out what she should work on over the summer.

I found out the elementary asst. principal has a gifted endorsement, and he and the elem. guidance couselor are very much in favor of acceleration when appropriate, which is great to know with dd5 starting k in the fall.

I was reassured by 7th grade testing that they did, (Stanford)--
Language 96%
Math 93%
Reading 95%
Science Reasoning 93%

So thanks to all who listened to me stressing about it. It really seemed like a no-brainer when seeing it all layed out at the mtg. I guess I am just slow to make decisions sometimes!

I can't believe dd will be graduating hs in 6 yrs.--that is crazy!
