I was originally anti-video game, based on what my SIL says about it (trouble getting her boys away from it - it has kinda become a discipline problem/tool in their house). But now I've been looking at creative ways to improve processing speed since at least one of them is slower in that regard, and yesterday I gave DH permission to buy an old nintendo on ebay, along with simple games (mario/duck hunt). As it is, the kids (DS5, DS5, and DD7) are constantly begging to get on the computer. Plus, a while ago an incredibly brilliant friend of ours happened to mention that he played countless hours of video games in his youth (didn't seem to hurt him or his social skills. He has achieved some great things). I also bought some educational software, but so far the only one they like is Math Missions, and I have it set up on an old computer. If anyone has recommendations for software for this age group, I'd love to hear them.
