Thanks for your replies. The meeting was like a bad mushroom trip. Left me with the gut feeling that my child was in a hostage situation and that I should start home schooling immediately. Left me kicking myself that I should have seen the signs earlier.
I really don't understand the willful ignorance. A GT child doesn't have any choice to not be GT, no more than a LD child has any choice to be LD. Papering it over is not going to help. One has to go through it, not around it. And there is abundant research into how to go about this.
