Hi, I'm in the process of becoming gifted certified. However I need some help. I have a field exp to complete. I'm requesting any certified gifted teacher that is willing to help me with questions from my professor. They are as follows:

How do you recognize and identify outstanding talents and potentials in students?

How do you recognize and identify children and yout having high potential in multiple areas?

How would you define gifted and talented?

What characteristics do you associate with gifted and talented children and youth?

How do you compare historical and contemporary identifiacation of gifted and talented from the perspectives of both theory and research?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to assist me with my endorsement.

    Hi Dee C.,

Have you done any reading on sites like Hoagies ? Also, try looking up a report called A Nation Deceived if you haven't read it yet.

Do you mean that this is a field experience, and that you're doing some fieldwork? This would certainly give you up close experience with how gifted kids learn.

    Regards,

    Val

Thanks Val. I have tried Hoogies. This is a Field Experience. I will try your other recommendation.

Have you tried contacting Tamara Fisher? http://blogs.edweek.org/teachers/unwrapping_the_gifted/

I'm sure she'd be happy to help and could put you in touch w/ other gifted teachers.
