Today I feel like I have no energy LOL...but I know after some sleep and space from the situation I will feel differently.

I have the IAS, Nation Deceived and tons of other research I gave out at our last meeting(a huge folder that I gave to each person in attendance). Now if they read it or shredded when I walked out, who knows. Our district policy is that there isn't one. It just isn't normally done. Our state policy leaves it to each district to decide. I showed them neighboring districts that do subject/grade acceleration and how they evaluate(b/c it is on the school website...imagine a district that open that the parents actually understand how to help their gifted kids soar). Again, don't know if they used that info as kindling in their evening fire or read it. It is clear at this point it has made zero impact either way.

I am just unsure how it can work next year(differentiation) when it isn't this year. Their argument she was matched up with a teacher not capable of providing her with the best enrichment and that she isn't with any of her high peers. I do think those things do have some part in this, but my concern is if we have a repeat of these problems next year. I am pretty sure the grade/subject acceleration is probably not going to happen, but I want a plan B is this goal plan we will be writing in May...I cannot allow another year like this to happen. It is unfair to my dd and is just a waste of her time on top of her frustration level being so high. I just would be interested in the test results in black and white to make sure they are being 100% honest with us...I just don't trust them.

I emailed the GT coordinator. I asked about getting a copy of the results. I spoke with a former colleague who actually does the map testing for the school I taught at. She says they should be able to do that print out as long as other students info is blacked out. That they have done it.

Also since differentiation is their big push I asked for information on the training the teachers have had on it. Conferences they have attended and in service training. If this is the method they feel is gold in working with gifted children then they should be doing it right and from now until May when we have our meeting I will be researching all the latest info on it. I will know what is done in successful programs(because what they did this year sadly was a flop). If her teacher hasn't had formal training in it, from the little I have read, it cannot be implemented right. I even looked up a conference for teachers in our area on it this summer...maybe I'll bring the brochure to our meeting.
