    Hi Everyone....
So I received my 5.2 year old son's report.... Can someone help with these subscale scores?? I have more numbers, but I am curious what to make of these:

    VERBAL
INFORMATION raw score 30 scaled score 16
VOCABULARY raw score 21 Scaled score 15
WORD REASONING raw score 22 scaled score 14

    PERFORMANCE
BLOCK DESIGN raw score 34 scaled score 17
MATRIX REASONING raw score 23 scaled score 17
PICTURE CONCEPTS raw score 22 scaled score 17

All age equiv. were greater then 7.2

    THANKS

    Hi Lukemac,

What a relief to finally get the report!

You child is definitely gifted. The scores are all generally in the same ballpark. (I'm looking at the scaled scores - all are nicely bunched up together at 14-17 - I believe that on the scaled scores 3 points equals one standard deviation)

I checked back to your original post and there is a standard deviation of a gap between processing speed and verbal - but even that much of a gap I wouldn't worry about. To put it another way - you child's processing speed is faster than 2/3 of kids his age, so that is well above average, so I would expect your child's verbal abilities - especially recall of learned information - to be able to be demonstrated 'plenty quick' enough so they won't be hidden.

The performance side is more about solving complicated problems, which isn't as much related to speed. No one really expects a person to be deep, creative, and ultra-fast at the same time.

My question is this - what's your questions behind the question. Yes these are unmistakably gifted scores, but the tester must have told you that, so what unanswered question is driving you to ask here? I'm just curious, mostly...

    Smiles,
    Grinity

    Hi Grinity!
You answered my question - basically, I wondered if the gap in scores was concerning...
It is really exciting to see the report, and confirm what I have long suspected about my kid!
Now the fun begins - (we held him back for an extra year of preschool because he was so shy and socially reserved) and today I read in the IQ report that he is reading on a 3-4th grade level, so next year will be decision making time I guess!
    Thanks for your help!

Thanks Lukemac for answering My question - LOL!

So, is he still shy and reserved? Is he shy by nature (like his bio parents?) or is he shy because he didn't quite fit in (maybe also like bio parents?)

Are 6 year olds usually in Kindy or 1st in your neighborhood? Are you planning to return him to his agemates, or place him with slightly older kids?

On the playgroud or at family gatherings, does he like to play with agemates, littles, older kids, or hang with the adults?

Give him a kiss for me and enjoy your little cutie!

I don't believe that there is technically a GAI for the WPPSI. Someone might be able to give you an idea of what it would be if one could calculate it, though. Dottie?

I'd agree with Grinity that the scatter is not at all concerning. The psych dd10 has seen most recently seemed to indicate to me that an ideal gifted profile looks pretty much like that -- scaled scores mostly within a few points of one another. My dds both have much larger scatters (scaled scores from 8-19). For my younger one, she seems more held back by her lows than does her older sister.

I looked back at your other posts and you do have that result. It is just not called GAI, the prorrated full scale is the equivalent of the GAI, it includes only performance and verbal.

Hello!! I am new, and I have yet to receive the full report for my 5 year old son.... This is all I have so far:
    WPPSI
    VERBAL 131
    PERFORMANCE 144
    PROCESSING SPEED 113
    FULL SCALE 135
    PRORATED FULL SCALE 142
