My DS (4 years) got onto my computer while we were busy and created his own WOW account (an undead Rogue, no less!) He is a sensitive boy and I can not get my head around him playing a game like that when I won't even let him watch me play. I know he is going to ask to play it again. Is there anything you could recommend I could redirect him to? I think he likes the first person and exploring things but I would prefer to avoid the violence in WOW.

    TIA

Timez Attack?! Not sure what it would do to learn tables this way at this stage, but it has first person exploration...

Does he like Cars? He could go onto this website, make a car and drive aroudn Radiator Springs? Warning:)-he may want to get a "sponsored car," which we won't pay for; but the rest is free.

Some of the Disney Phineas & Ferb games are fun as well.

BrainPop.com , it's not a game but has movies with a silly robot he might like. There is also a brain pop jr.

http://pbskids.org/cyberchase/index.html does he like cybercase? Some fun games here.

Simms games might be fun, somebody else might have a website. DS was into something where he was earning point to make a amusement park. I think there is something with animal habits too.

These are mostly for a science type kid. Are you looking for an action type game? What are his interest?

    Thanks everyone,

He does have quite a few games he plays, and enjoys but there was something he found facinating about WOW that had him enthralled. Maybe partly that his parents play it *blush*. I'm really after something where he can wander around in first person and explore a bit, maybe with puzzles and things. People to talk to would be good. I thought the newer Myst, but I think the puzzles would be a bit over his head.

Those games look good to add to his collection and/or bookmarks. He is a science-y child. I think he would really go for some of the Sims games too, I'll have to investigate those.

If there are any I can introduce as "a kids version of Mamma's game", that would be great.

Check out Lego Universe! It's got the MMPOG of WOW without the content issues. Well, you do destroy some stuff but it's not really violent- no more than any LEGO game where the bits all roll around and it's over.

If that's not what you're looking for, look at JumpStart World. There are tasks and jobs to do, games to play and it also has learning games up to 2nd grade level.

Both my son and daughter like a game called Roblox. It is a building type game in 1st person. There is a paid version where you can do a whole bunch more stuff, but there is also a free version. It is played mainly by young to middle teens so language isn't terrible like WOW, but occasionally there can be so not so polite chat.

Thank you, I'll look into those! I really like having a place I can ask a weird question like that smile
