Where do you find the grade equivalents from based on the scores?

From parents whose children have taken these tests do you find it is reflective of their capabilities? To me it just seems to say she can take a test fairly well. I can't imagine she could have answered many of those questions if they weren't multiple choice.

Here is a link to a chart:

I will say when my dd was tested through the Saturday gifted program, I was shocked at how high her math was. I always knew she was a good reader, but would have never guessed she was so high in math. I think they can really surprise you sometimes.

Do we still use this chart even though it is for the MAP test that is given to older students?

I don't see any K and 1st grade columns on here, just 2nd grade and up.

Thanks for all of your help by the way, I really appreciate it.

Here's a link to look up the norms and it includes K and first grade:

    http://pickens.it.schoolfusion.us/m...ssionid=14d1e9266e4482d198ebc39c6e6bc9c3

The reading is on page 141 and 197 is at the 79% for 2nd grade. The math is on page 153 and 191 is at the 97% for 1st grade. Here is what NWEA has to say about inflated scores:
    http://www.nwea.org/support/article/1024/it-possible-students-get-falsely-inflated-score-guessing
    Quote
By nature, it's impossible to know when a score is "inflated." However, the number of means by which one can get an inflated score are generally limited to either guessing or cheating. Cheating can be difficult if the room is monitored properly and few students will ever be "lucky" with their guessing.

On the other hand, any number of things can deflate a score. Fatigue, hunger, anger, boredom, or distraction can all have negative impacts on a student's performance. It is more likely that a score that doesnt reflect a students true ability will be deflated than inflated.

Thanks for the information. I guess just time will tell.

I'm still puzzled at how she got her lexile scores so high and why she had such a big difference between the first section and the second other than maybe just lower tolerance levels and high frustration. She was near tears at the end of the test.
