    Hi,

TenMarks has launched a math practice and learning program for grades 3 - High School and as of today, its FREE for teachers to use in class or for their students to use at home.

The TenMarks approach gives students a variety of problems on each topic, and ability to use hints if they need a little nudge, and immediate video lessons for them to refresh and learn the topic on the spot. The end result students refresh what they know and learn what they dont.

Teachers choose their own curriculum (mapped to state standards), assign work to students, have it automatically graded immediately, review individual and class performance, and most importantly, take immediate action. TenMarks is super effective and real easy to use it was designed with the help of math teachers across the country. Whats more - it's FREE for the entire class!

    Check it out at http://www.tenmarks.com/teachers.

DS10 used TenMark assessment for 5th grade Math. He just started 5th grade Math this year. Could someone look at this and see if you think this is a good assessment? He scored that every thing was on grade level or above. Should I be thinking school should put him in 6th grade Math?

Can you link to exactly the page with the 5th grade assessment? Would we need to go through an entire 5th grade assessment to see if we feel like it is appropriate for grade level?

My dd10 is also a 5th grader, but in a 6th grade math class so I have some idea of what 5th and 6th grade math look like, but I do think that it differs from school to school and state to state. Maybe it would be worth taking a look at something like ixl's list of 5th and 6th grade math state standards (http://www.ixl.com/math/standards/) -- click your state and then the grade level -- or World Book Encyclopedia's list of what is typically taught in 5th and 6th grade (http://www.worldbook.com/typical-course-of-study.html). That might give you an idea of whether he knows a lot of what 5th grade math covers.

Also, his teacher might be able to give you a scope and sequence for what they intend to teach this year. Has he taken any other math assessments through school such as MAPS?
