I capped the class size this year because of the obligation to my time with my oldest DD moving into high school classes, our change to TOG, and some medical problems I have been having. I have a few openings right now since the system has updated and removed some of the inactive students from last year. If you are interested please PM me the parent information and email address. I will take students on first come first serve basis with veterans to the boards getting seats first, since that was the intent of the group.

The benefit to the group is that you can access Math and LAW. The cost is $135 for the school year which runs until May 31st 2011, so it is more cost effective the earlier in the year you sign up. (I have not heard about prorating for this year since they added the Individual OE program.) The other difference is that you have SSA support to adjust settings for the different classes based on the individual student. My understanding (correct me someone if this has changed) is that the individual OE is set for all the default settings without the option of changing them.

Can you still accept? My kids have been on this for a few months on the individual enrolment. We've been paying about $160 every month for each course. Can we access all courses through this enrollment?

My understanding (correct me someone if this has changed) is that the individual OE is set for all the default settings without the option of changing them. This is correct, as far as I can tell. What I don't know is whether EPGY might be willing to change any settings for the individual OE if one inquired via email. So far we're happy with the regular setting. I haven't seen many reviews of the LAW course - would love to hear any opinions

Mel, if I want to sign up again for this year, do you need to know or do I just do so? Looks like my login /etc are still available... We are interested in the algebra option (which seems to be new?) thanks

Hi melmichigan,
I would like to enrol my Son to EPGY and found that joining your group is a great way to do it.
Could you please tell me if you still have openings? If not, any other groups you know of ?
Regards
William

Sorry, I haven't been monitoring the boards as much lately. EPGY opted not to prorate their OE courses this year. The new school year starts June 1st. If you are just interested in math it might be a better option for some from a financial standpoint to just use the individual math 3 month program, (which I have nothing to do with) until the new school year starts. Otherwise I will be enrolling kids for the new school year as soon as the registration site allows, usually in May. I have had a few requests for enrollment because families want to access LAW and have taken those students. I will post when registration starts.

We're doing the 3 month math with DD to try the waters until OE. She was getting sick of Singapore (which I actually like and which DS is still happy with). We're only about a week in, but so far she is liking it.

Melissa,
We haven't used EPGY in months although we are part of your group and paid for the year. I was wanting dd to see if she could do a little bit but realized that we've lost her login info. Our prior laptop died and the info was on that one. Is there anyway to get her login id # back?

I'm trying to find something to supplement what dd is doing in public school. Would you recommend EPGY? I'm also hoping I can convince her school to let her do some online work during the day, or substitute some online work for school work... She's currently reading/writing at an 8th grade level and is in 3rd grade. The 3rd grade reading curriculum doesn't quite provide what she needs. She's already very young and very tiny, also not as advanced in math. So, a full grade skip would be tough and she'll be between buildings next year, so subject acceleration will be a challenge as well.
Thanks for any info. Has anyone else used Epgy this way?
Julie

Thanks for any info. Has anyone else used Epgy this way? We have and we also have a very young, very tiny younger dd . I like the LAW (language arts writing) program that comes with EPGY although, like I mentioned, we just haven't used it as much this year b/c dd is doing a lot of other stuff that's taking up her time. The thing with LAW is that it isn't a reading curriculum so much as an English (structure, grammar) and writing program, IMO. Writing wise it doesn't have the kids writing but rather recognizing elements of proper writing by identifying it from multiple choices or choosing words from a selection and creating sentences, etc. You might also want to take a look at some of the following for online humanities/reading courses: http://www.onlineg3.com/http://www.athenasacademy.com/

The enrollment options are different now. There is not a set "school year". Your enrollment options are 5 and 10 months from the time of enrollment so enrollment will be ongoing for the time being.

melmichigan,
I have sent you a PM and am still interested in the $135 enrollment, which covers the three courses for 10 months. Please let me know the next steps.

Hi, Thanks for leading this. I am definitely in. I think joining this way allows my son to do Algebra, correct? I have a 11 year old and a 7 year old.

Hi,
I'm very interested in joining your EPGY group. Our son has been doing the individual program, but as that enrollment is ending at the end of March, and we haven't found the tutor to be much added value, we want to move to an open enrollment group.
Please let me know what I need to do to join up.
Thanks,
SamB
