    Hi,

I signed DS3 up for the individual 3 month enrollment EPGY a couple days ago. So far he's done it for a few minutes one time and enjoyed it. We will just offer it to him as one of several computer games we play, it will be up to him if he chooses to do it. I like it so far.

Anyways, I have a question about the personal info submission in the signup process. It asked for his age and grade level and then did not seem to have an option for entering the age of a child younger than 5, ie his birth year did not appear in the drop down menu and it does not allow you to just type in a year. So I just chose the youngest year which makes him 5. I put his grade level as K as there was no pre-K option. I'm a bit uncomfortable lying about his age -- am just wondering if I should write them to tell them his correct age? Also uncomfortable though bothering them with a picky detail if it doesn't matter. Does it matter to the EPGY people? Anywhere later on it would matter? Just wondering if in 2 years when we have something to show the school system (ie he's completed X grade in epgy) to help advocate for math acceleration whether inaccurate age and grade info there will matter. Someone here must have done EPGY with a 3 or 4 year old?

I have a four year old who is currently using the program. We actually started when he was 3 1/2 (so we have been using it about 7/8 months). I just put that he was five since there was no other option. I am not sure if this will be an issue later, but I will deal with it then. He is almost done with the first grade level. We are not on a regular schedule; it is just an extra "fun" activity for him.

I would say that the biggest issue I have noticed with starting so young is that it requires a lot of my supervision. He is very independent on the computer with normal games, but since correct/incorrect answers are being tracked I have to keep an eye on him to make sure that he is following the directions. We have had some issues with him pushing enter too fast (before filling in the complete answer) and other minor things, but in general it has worked well. It has actually been better since our setting was adjusted the gifted level. DS would become very frustrated when he had to answer so many of one type of question.

I signed up EPGY for my daughter who is entering 1st grade this year on June. Two years ago I signed up for my son starting at K level and he kelp complaining it was too boring until he reached third grade level. So this year I filled in 2nd grade for my D and the program started at 1.5. I don't think EPGY care too much about open enrollment student because they don't provide certificate and test for them.
