Maybe she is color blind. I have nothing else to add as you have got great advice.

Hi - I agree with what the others have said. Just piping in on the colors issue. My DS6 was found to be red/green colorblind, but he can still identify colors if reds and greens are on their own. It's only an issue if the reds and greens are mixed together in certain patterns that he misses them. Colorblindness is far less common in girls, but mixing up colors at an early age is not unusual.

I didn't even consider the color part of your original post as an issue. As early as my DD was on everything; colors was one of the last things she tackled. She would talk about colors before age 1 but clearly didn't have them down and would mix them up. She didn't master colors until 18 months (give or take a month). I suspect colors were not of interest to her and we definitely did not push it. If and when she showed interested I would answer her questions about the color and even when she wasn't interested in color specifically I would answer a question with a description such as "Yes, that is a big red truck." Eventually through conversations she was able to categorize colors and soon after that she was able to understand primary and secondary colors and how primary colors mix to create secondary. What I have come to realize is with gifted kids it isn't important when they master a skill but how quickly they master it and to what depth.

I certainly would not worry about colorblindness at this age.

I agree with what everybody's said about the testing.. as for the colors. DD (18 months) also knows most of her colors but will get them mixed up on occasion. Especially since her favorite colors are blue/purple and sometimes everything turns into blue/purple if she's in that sort of mood!
