SL9,
I really appreciate you sharing your similar experience. I'd like to catch up with you next fall and see how things are going for your 3rd grader. Your plan to check in with the teacher after the first month sounds great. Tackling the issue early in the year is what I plan to do from now on.
I can't help but feel that I overstepped a boundary when asking for so much from our principal, and making suggestions. (i.e. cluster grouping, further testing, asking for better 'differentiated instruction'.) It's frustrating when it feels so one sided. My wish is that either dd's future teacher or principal would acknowledge that some kids need more. My blind hope is the Terra Nova results will make a difference.
We'll have to see how our little ones do too. Good luck next school year!
