i knew my 4 year old had some giftedness in there...dumb school district. he scored in the 97th% nonverbal reasoning on the DAS.....and in the 99th% for reading on the young children's achievement test. (we had him tested privately)

it feels so good when someone tells you that you were right about your kid! tonight i breathe a sigh of relief just knowing i was right...and tomorrow i figure out what to do with this information. lol. smile

Congratulations!! But yep, agree with onthegomom - you've been living it already, albeit without the numbers. Have fun doing (even more) research!!

What kind of problems have you been having with the school district this early in the game? Are you hoping for early admission to K and will they take these private test results if so? Good luck and congrats on your instincts being validated.

i was....and had him screened and they said he was "average" and did not require further testing. i don't know that they will take the results, but i am hoping it will be enough to push them to do the comprehensive evaluation based on these private scores. it isn't just about the early admission...along with that gifted preschoolers are given an IEP- which would ensure his needs were met in reading. (we live in a district that is NOT good about differentiation...so without the IEP he would most likely be made to sit and relearn everything he already knows.)
