Things are still crazy for us, doctor's appointments, physical therapy, bad headaches that last all day, but we will get through it. There are some positive things happening for us. An aquatic physical therapist is going to teach us some water exercises that my son can do in his hot tub so we don't have to drive 45 miles to go to physical therapy. We are also adding an exercise room to our house so my son will have more time to learn, which is one of his favorite thing to do.

My son's musical theater teacher asked him if he wanted another solo because one of the actors is not going to be able to do the show and he is happy to do it. I have seen a big jump in his self esteem ever since the middle school aged girls in his class heard him sing and told him they thought he was really good. The cute girls are talking to him more. They don't care that he wears a brace. They think he is smart and funny. He doesn't want me hanging around at rehearsals now. I am happy about this.

I've mostly been just reading and being happy for those who have had good experiences. Our own Kindergarten year has been very frustrating - no differentiating in full-day K. The one positive is that GD5 finally got her notification today of being accepted into the GT program at her school qualifying for services in all subjects. The letter says she will be receiving differentiated instruction for the rest of the year but I don't really know what that will entail. She's still getting in trouble for behavior in K class. The school is supposed to be doing an evaluation right now but we haven't seen/heard of anything yet. Not sure what DD will decide to do for next year.

But on a happier note - the weather is very nice!

    DD has friends!

She is getting a lot of differentiated work at school, but her performance and attentions span are spotty sometimes. It seems to me like its still not enough intellectually, but maybe I'm just so used to feeling that her needs aren't being met.

I am having issues with one of the teachers at dd's school. Some of the comments she has made to me about dd make me very uncomfortable. The teacher is weeks away from retirement and dd only sees her for 2 hours a week so I am trying to not make it a big deal, but dd and this woman seem to be at loggerheads. I don't think dd could do anything right by her anymore. I'm really struggle with how much to comment to dd about the situation.

My 2 closest mom friends at the school are opting to home school next year. I'm so glad for them, but its hard on me. They were the two people I felt like I could be totally open with about gifted stuff.

I am really looking forward to summer and time off from homework and the driving to and from school, cross town commute. Summer camp options look for this year, not gifted, but interesting topics for dd and much closer to home - fingers crossed.

The brightest spot for us is violin lessons. DD advocated to quit suzuki a few months ago and learn fiddle style instead because it was more "relevant to her life." (Ouch, she's 7.) After much deliberation and politicing with her old violin teacher, she is zooming through a new fiddle technique book with a new teacher. Its fun to play and practice with her again.

Oh, and the friends. Did I mention the friends?

I have been so busy between trying to get packed up, DS's baseball, work, etc... I'm exhausted. And NOW we may be moving to Florida... ugh.

DS6 is still doing well in 1st. He has had some behavioral issues though. He's BORED because they are reviewing CRCT testing stuff. Poor guy.
