I apologize in advance for all my recent questions re: materials, software etc. Now that we are home schooling and I am getting a beginning picture of the things the kids like to learn and how they like to learn I am discovering new things. I really value the input from this site so...question

For a 9 year old - best starter set of snap circuits and how important is it to have the computer interface?

    Thanks!

I have the student guides and they are very useful for a non-electrical person like myself. The teacher guide wasn't useful - if I recall correctly, it was just quizzes. The student guides though have explanations of the parts, tons of info about circuits, questions on circuits that are shown (will it work? why not?). I need it as my knowledge of capacitance and transistors etc is shaky and that is being generous. ha ha ha

We got the 300 set. It seems great and my son loves it! It seems like it will keep him busy for awhile. We typically do 3-5 a time - usually daddy does them with him because he feels left out if we do them without him, lol.

They do make add on sets that 'upgrade' you from one set to another so it's not that big a deal to get a smaller set and then need more. I think I would go with at least the 300 though if you can get a good deal on it. We got ours for cheap from Amazon near Christmas and I'm very happy with it.

Thanks for the advice. Yes the 300 set seems like a good starting place.

Dazed - I will be getting my education in electricity as well. ;-) I find since I started homeschooling the kids I am getting a lot more educated!
