My ds was tested 2 years ago, and received the following results:
    VCI 126
    PRI 145
    WMI 116
    PSI 126
    FSIQ 138

He was recently tested again, and this is what we have now:
    VCI 144
    PRI 123
    WMI 110
    PSI 121
FSIQ 133 (although, they indicated that this number may not be valid because of the range)

My question is why the VCI and PRI would have changed so much. Nobody has given me an answer yet, so I keep asking. The psychologist said that it's not important because his FSIQ is still in the same percentile (99th).

    What do you think?

He went way up in the Comprehension subtest, and down in every PSI subtest that counts (he went up a little in picture completion).

They are really almost exchanged! Very interesting that his processing speed and working memory stayed almost the same. How old is he? Was he tested by same psychologist?

Was there a reason he was retested?

What do you see as his strengths? How is he doing achievement wise, stronger in math or language arts?

He was 7 the first time and 9 the second. He was tested by the school the first time because he had writing difficulties. He was tested privately the second time because the writing difficulties have increased and he is depressed. He now has a diagnosis of dysgraphia (apparently he also has some dyslexia but is able to compensate for that). He has been reading since he was 3 or 4, so I'd say that's a strength, but he's very interested in math, so that's a strength as well. He hates to write.

He scored well on the achievement testing done 2 years ago in all categories except math fluency, writing fluency, and written expression - basically anything that involved a pencil.

If we could superscore IQ tests, he'd be way out there!

I'm going with Dottie here, which always seems to be a good bet wink!

My youngest was tested twice on the WISC with a similar weird range on PRI. The first time her PRI was in the 99th percentile and the second in the 75th. Her VCI didn't vary so much though (99.7th and 99th).

I don't think that the psych's comments about the changes not mattering b/c the overall # is about the same is legit, though. If both of those scores are "correct" his innate strengths and weaknesses are quite different than they were two years ago. We were told that dd's drop in PRI was due to "fluctuation in ability." Achievement fluctuates. I'm not sure if ability does. I'd be more inclined to agree with the others who have said that he is very strong in both areas.

Is there any chance the scores were reversed? The psych which tested my DS had several calculation errors and misprints on his report. You'd have to have the original score sheet but I'd really question if someone reversed the scores.

Do you have all the subtest scores?

I have all the subtest scores for both tests (I even have raw scores for the second test).
