My DD3 still amazes me. Today she requested to 'watch' a story in the car which was all audio. I countered with don't you mean hear the story which she quickly came back with "No, mommy. It should be listen to ..." This is the second correction this week and both times she was absolutely correct. I don't know why that was jaw dropping for me since this is the kid that knew proper pronouns from the beginning which was when she was 6 months but this seems so much more complex.

I get corrected all the time from DD 2.10 too LOL. back in september I said something about going to the park with airplanes and she said, "no mom, airplane, there is only one airplane, not airplanes" she corrected a book just last week tha we were reading and she was absolutly right. She corrects my grammer and others all the time. And a couple of months ago a worksheet asked her to color the dimonds, well dd said there wasn't one. I poine o the square turned on it side tha the book wanted colored, and she said that's not a dimond, it is a square turned on its side. LOL well she was right. shecan recognize a dimond and it truely wasnt one LOL.
Isn't it awsome. Enjoy

The frequent correcting use to bother me. Then I learned gifted kids can really like accuracy. Somehow knowing that makes it seem easier to deal with.

Too cute. Yep, I thought it would be years before this started happening. I told my DD 2.5 to go get a new pair of panties. She corrected me and said "not my panties, my diaper."

I am no idiot (well maybe I am. After two kids and being home with them full time, I do feel a little muddled) but I am corrected and questioned on a daily basis. If I say something that is just a little vague, she tries to get me to clarify etc. Sometimes it is annoying because I really have to be on my toes, but once in awhile it is handy when I forget something or can't remember what I was going to say and my three year old finishes my sentences. The other day she wanted me to videotape her singing a very, very long song with verse after verse and I said, "if you forget the words look at my lips and I can help you" but the joke was on me because when I went to help, I realized she ignored me, who was wrong, and knew all ten million verses herself. I used to be smart with degrees from ivy league schools, MENSA, published writer, but I get my butt kicked daily by someone who wears a diaper for part of the day.

I have a little one who corrects too. When she was barely 3 years old, she corrected my fluent German speaking dad (born in Germany) on his pronunciation of "zwei" (two). He was singing a song and kind of slurred zwei in with the next word and she quickly corrected him!!
Also get grammar corrected, if you mis-read something in a book, etc, etc, etc!

I love all the stories and Twinkletoes ... thanks for the laugh! BTW, back when DD was a tiny thing I came across an article in a medical journal about having girls and what it does to the brain. So Twinkletoes ... you have validation!!! Haha at least I used it in my defense when my DH would laugh at my inability to remember since I was that annoying person that remembers every detail of any conversation.
MamaJA: My daughter is in a Spanish Immersion program and already has great pronunciation. Since I openly admit my foreign language abilities are a joke, I know not to even bother trying because she will attack!
And yes ... my child has always corrected us in similar ways that all of you have shared (love the stories) but this last few weeks it has been more complicated grammar. Oh how I have my hands full with this one. And I suspect with a lot of the mom's with the 2 yr olds this too is right around the corner for you.
