Getting ready for IEP. Anyone know the law on tape recording? Researched and seems to be ambigous in general and couldn't find anything for my state.

From what I understand it is your right to record the meeting. BUT you need to let them know in advance so they can also record it. That's what I was told by our school district, well our old one anyway.

I believe it also depends on the state law on recording in general, if it's not stated in the ed code. In some states, you can record with one party's consent. In others, you need both/all parties' consent to record anything. Do you have a Special Ed/ Educational Rights lawyer you can ask?

That's a good idea. I'm going to search for one right now. I'm sure we have one in the area. Thanks.
