I know I've read this before, but does anyone have suggestions for grade-level placement tests? Is there one comprehensive test for all academic areas, or should I do a separate test for each? Thanks!

I was thinking of the Iowa Acceleration Scale. Finally remembered! Thinking ahead for when/if we do decide to re-enroll in school. Thank you!

Do you mean the IOWA test of basic skills? That's difference from the scale which is used for acceleration purposes.

That's not a test that a parent can administer, is it? That might be what I'm thinking of.

THE IOWA of Test of BAsic Skills is a test you can administer at home. One source is Brewer Testing Service. Others use BJU Testing Service. There are several out there. You get it in the mail, administer the test, mail it in for scoring, and receive a score report.

I think for actual grade level placement, schools would probably like to administer their own end of year exams in the various subjects w/ the student required to meet some score - 80% correct or 90% correct etc.

Or schools might just place by age. If you wanted to skip, that would be a horse of a different color.

I should probably just hs forever! Nothing else seems like a decent option around here! I started reading TWTM, and I'm feeling much more confident. I think ds will be much more receptive to this style of teaching/learning. The book also gives us a specific starting point, so that's also helpful. Thanks again for the info. I'm not going to worry about testing until/if we decide to go back to school. Can you tell I'm still working on relaxing? ; )

Are you reading the newest WTM edition? I've been reading it this week and really enjoying it.
