    Inky,

I have to laugh b/c we have been going through this exact thing with DD since before she turned 2. She instantly would change her tune when we dare her not to do something. She knew we turned it into a game and every time she is willing to do it. Something about this method gets smiles and giggles and the mood changes. So I second your comment ... it really does work.

I am chuckling at this. We have a Super Helper at our house, too. It's adorable if I don't actually have to complete a task or don't mind if every task mushrooms into four more new ones. (chuckle, chuckle, deep sigh)

Hoosier, y'all just need some sleep, mama.

I am happy to report that with a slight bedtime adjustment, DD3.5 appears to be getting better. Her strong-willed nature was mixing with an incredible lack of sleep (getting up at 5:30am, refusing naps, etc) which turned her into some kind of monster child. She was so tired all the time that we were putting her to bed early, around 7pm, usually as a punishment for not behaving well (from being tired). So we actually moved her bedtime back to 8pm and she's been sleeping in a half hour more.
Then I took her to the park Tuesday morning so she could run herself into exhaustion. For the first time in a week or so, she took a nap! She even took a nap the following day without challenging me.
She's still a strong-willed stinker, but it's so much easier to handle when she's not so incredibly exhausted. My mother tries to offer up advice, then finally realizes than neither one of her children were as stubborn as mine. Lucky me. smile

Oh and Seablue, some sleep would be awesome! We just got over a bad round of Rotavirus in the house which knocked out DD1 (almost hospitalized), me and finally DD3.5. Also, DD1 is trying to cut some incisors which makes her cry in her sleep, waking DH and I up.
Thankfully we head out next weekend for an out-of-town wedding and the kids are staying with their grandparents. It will be the first weekend away EVER since DD3.5 has been born.
