I would contact a psychologist who's had more experience with gifted children. Hoagies has a good list.

    Meg,
By verbal part, I am assuming you mean the Verbal Comprehension Index. It consists of three required subtests: Similarities(determining how two concepts are alike), Comprehension (open ended reasoning and social judgement), and Vocabulary (defining words).

    Examples of Similarities questions:

How are "horse" and "cow" alike?
How are "minute" and "week" alike?
How are "happy" and "sad" alike?

    Examples of Comprehension questions:
    -Why do we have laws?
    -Why do we cook food?
-What does "to kill two birds with one stone" mean?

    Example of Vocabulary questions:
    --What is "articulate"?
    --What is a "poem"?
    --What is "designate"?
