Boys in bath... DS6 calls urgently "Mummy, come quickly" ...I race in... "Look! DS4's got a hairy v*gina!". Isn't bubblebath fun.
Subsequent to questions re origin of humans and other critters - we've had numerous reasonably detailed talks re evolution and reproduction, and a good look at our human body book.
(not sure if there are auto rules re some words?)

FWIW, I usually do what you did just so that we don't get people searching for dirty pictures popping up here, regardless of whether we're allowed to use anatomically correct words or not. I think of it as troll prevention...

He went on to explain that the mini part is what he thinks of as his "play" brain and the maxi part is his "learning" brain. He also informed me that if something ever gets soo hard that he needs to, he has the ability to merge his whole brain into one for maximum processing. Can I tell you how much I love this story? I love this story. Also love the "we're escaping!" comment, Chris!

Out of nowhere yesterday, DD2.5 came up to me and asked "Mommy, are leprechauns real?", I told her no and she said "But, frogs are real, right?" and then walked off.
I honestly have no idea what's going on in her little head most of the time, lol.

Was she pondering green things, I wonder??? How funny!
peace minnie
PS--Chris, Frenchie occasionally zips along in the car, too (within the norms set down for our guidance by Her Majesty's Government, of course), and Groucho always yells, "feel that German acceleration!" I'll have to tell them the "we're escaping" line--love it!
How have I missed this thread before today?? What fun!

My DS almost 3, found a huge dead moth the other day and gave it to my brother inlaw and asked him to cut it open so he could see what was inside. The funny part is my bro-in-law is squimish and not used to being around kids. I have definately got to do something about this bug obsession of his. It must be time for a trip to the library.....

OMG Florida, our kids could talk.
DD 29 mos. is bug obsessed, too. She loves to "rescue" bugs that land in the kiddie pool, althoughh it's a dubious fate, since she then carries them around, pries them open to see how they work, and otherwise kills them. She is crazy for snails and - I don't know why I do this but - I have to remind her to stop taking their shells off to examine them.
The other day I saw a giant potato bug (big, disgusting brown bug) and said to her, "Come here! Come here! I have something for you to see!" I helped her get it into her sand pail. As I walked away, she was staring lovingly into the pail, saying under her breath, "I love bugs. I love my big bug."
Based on this, I was tempted to start a thread called, "What do you think your DC will grow up to be" because we are definitely leaning towards entomologist.
Let me know if you find a good bug encyclopedia for two year olds!

DD(almost 2) has been talking like crazy lately. She cracks me up all the things she she says and how she says them. Lately she has been calling stores "ABC's" because of the letters on the front. She will say "I want to go in the ABC's and go shopping" She also wants to do everything that her brother does. "I want to read a book too" "I want to jump too" And I love watching her talk to her stuffed animals and sing to them. When we were reading an I Spy book the other day, she would take Elmo's hand and have him point out where the objects were.
DS4 (almost 5) was cracking us up last night. we were playing a game together and he was keeping the score. all of a sudden he starts looking at us and going "ahhh, ahhhh" (I can't really type the sound but it sounded kind of like a robot). We were like "what are you doing?" And he says "when I make that sound it means that I am out of room on this paper" He is a funny kid. He often doesn't just say something. He gives us clues. DH said that for Mother's day DS told him "we need to go to store that starts with an H and ends with a K" so I can get a card for mom. Apparently he had seen a commercial about a recordable card with a song and he needed to get it for me. And although he doesn't watch TV all that much...he is telling me all about commercials lately. He told me yesterday about a place that you can turn in your old jewelry for cash. He pretty much recited the whole commercial.

shellymos, that was my claim to fame as a child... memorizing and reciting commercials. apparently my ds5 also has that "gift". he's been reciting them since he was 3 or 4 and will use them as references in regular conversation.

seablue,
I have to laugh at your description on your DD and bugs. When DD was an infant my DH and I would have conversations on the IF game. He would love to have a little tomboy and me, not so much but I made it clear that whatever she is will be of her own doing ... I will not get involved. Imagine my delight when DD was barely 6 mths old and DH was getting her out of the car only to have a bug fly over her head and her squealing and waving her hands b/c it was on her head. Yep ... I won out on that game and she is clearly a girly girl. BUT if she liked collecting bugs ... great, just don't ask mommy to help you with that one.
