You're welcome. This site is gorgeous! Detailed, references real Greek texts, provides Latin translation and gorgeous photos of statues, flowers and maps - best I've seen for everything Classical Greek in one place. Just fabulous!

Ah - sometimes the universe works in mysterious ways - because I wasn't even looking - just found it by chance via Wikipedia - and I don't even remember why I was there.....

My Classics teacher would LOVE this ...

If anyone finds something similar for Egyptology or Japanese fairytales - please let me know. In fact - I think I was looking up Bakugun toys - and came across Baku- mythical Japnese creature - ....I'm trying to phase into the next part of Susan's Bauer's 1st grade reading list ..can you tell???

Thanks IronMom - this is great! We've been reading Greek and Norse myths the last few weeks. Must be something in the air...

Well... not really. I just picked up one from the library "Favorite Norse Myths" as retold by Mary Pope Osborne. I figured since the kid loves Magic Tree House books, he'd probably like this too. And he does, but I wouldn't say it's the best version. It's pretty good though, but more like "norse-myth lite." (and actually for DS5 it's great.) Kriston, any ideas?

D'Aulaire's is the most well-known, and I like it. It's a bit cleaned up for kids, but it might be a bit too violent for a really sensitive young child. If fairy tales are too scary, D'Aulaire's myths are probably too scary. Our library has a great version of this one with lovely artwork that I like. It's the one I read to my Viking enrichment classes.

The other popular one that I've seen used a lot is the Osborne one. I haven't read that one, so I don't know how it would be for sensitive readers, just in case that's a concern.

Those would be the two I'd look for. smile
