    Hello,

I have been a lurker for a little while now. I would like to have my daughter, 8, tested. I have googled until I am blue in the face for finding someone in our area who does testing. I managed to get a few names from the hoagies website, but none where in my area. I am from PA, Chester County, suburb of Philadelphia. Would someone be able to recommend a good testing site? Did everyone do private? I read some universities are able to perform these tests, but then are they experienced enough? I truly appreciate any input. My daughter is in catholic school, so there is no support or encouragement at all. Thanks again and I truly enjoy reading all your posts. I have alot to learn. This was just the kind of place I was hoping to find.

    NanciW,

It might be an hour or so drive, but you could try the Diagnostic and Counseling Center at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. Here is their web site:

You'd have to be ready to ask all the right questions to validate they are certified/know their stuff.... but don't some tutoring type centers offer testing. Or try searching on your insurance's website for a child pyschologist in your area. You may not land one who will test but they might know a peer who does... our guy was great but his primary "business" is depressed kids... so you wouldn't see a shingle hanging out for gt testing.

You might also ask your pediatrician. I was surprised to find that my pediatrician was delighted to talk to me about this issue and more than helpful in finding a suitable tester.

These are all great suggestions. Thank you so much for taking out the time to help me.

Gratifield, what do you mean by saying the right legal buzzwords? Do you mean saying that they have to test her since they cover the school district?
