Scores came today. If GS9 had been redshirted(late July b-day), he would have had DYS level scores for third grade. As it is, he has the science level for 4th grade, Math & English were close, reading was his worst. So, I guess while not pg, he is solidly gifted, it's not my imagination or friends humoring an indulgent grandma smile .

I'm real pleased with the skill evaluation & recommendations that came with the scores. Some very specific recommendations were given, and that will be a help as we plan his education for the next couple years.

    Got ours today smile
Not DYS scores but certainly not shabby for a young 3rd grader. Definitely scores that will help us with future planning. Now waiting for the NUMATS analysis and info.

Got ours today too. Hoped to use them to convince school to accelerate DS10 but since we've begun to homeschool (within last 3 weeks)it may be a better fit to stay put at home. I'm so on the fence! I'm hoping NUMATS analysis will help make my interpretation clearer.

BTW, I'm new to forum--what are DYS scores? Do you mean really high tendencies due to dysgraphia? Can someone explain to a newbie?

    Elizabeth,

I sure some of the pros here could explain it better but in a nutshell...

DYS = Davidson Young Scholars Program

(Also sometimes abbreviated YSP, and one who is in the program is a YS.)

There are minimum test results (IQ and achievement) required for acceptance into the program.

So for us newbies - who don't have time to google everything - what's the deal with EXPLORE anyway?
