If your son has a Nintendo DS, the title "My word coach" is fun, and has lots of "spelling awareness" activies, plus vocabulary. There is a French and Spanish version as well. I don't reccomend buying the kid a Nintendo DS just to get this game, but if this is already part of your life.....DS11 and I are having fun.

Thanks for the encouragement kimck! I feel like it is developmental too. My problems is I felt my DS9's problems were developmental too but he really has a vision problem and needs therapy and now I feel guilty about not figuring it out earlier. This makes me jump on anything going on with DS6 as I don't want to "miss" something else. Guilt is an awful task master! :-)

Trinity - funny, I had asked my DH for My Word Coach for ME for the Wii we are getting for Christmas. I thought we could all play it together and maybe improve everyone's vocabulary. I'm glad to hear that it is a good program. I hate paying a lot of money for something and it turn out to be a dud - I'm glad to hear you like it. Thanks!

We are getting Wii as well! EaCmom, please let us know if you end up liking Word Coach. I also hate paying $50 for a game that stinks!

    Dottie -
    Who?!?
Perhaps further blabbing is in order.

I bought the "My word coach" for 20 dollars, it's not Pokemon Pearl, but 20 bucks is cheap for a video game. It's more of a "novelty" One is supposed to stop after 20 minutes!
I also bought "My vision trainer" to try and get some stealth vision training. Only used that one once.

I didn't even consider using "My Word Coach" as a "stocking stuffer" gift. DS has slowly over time, given me to understand that he hates getting "educational" gifts as big presents. He's let me know that he's doing me a favor by trying it.

Hey, bad school fit and unfirm parenting do have nasty side effects. I just try to find a way to live with them!

    Also -
I think he's caught on to the idea that I am "experimenting" on him, and resents it.
