Hello everyone! So glad to have discovered this site...Had the big pow-wow with the school principle, daughter's teachers, AND the g/t coordinator. I'm very happy to report that principle and teachers were very supportive of finding something to address our daughters needs. Amazingly enough, it was our schools g/t coordinator who was negative on everything discussed!!! Even though our daughter was found to be exceptionally gifted by one of the leading high intelligence specialits, g/t coordinator suggested that the "district might not accept these outside scores".... Interestingly as well, g/t coordinator does not want daughter in his "g/t program" because of behavior "issues" We tried explaining that once learning environment is changed, that behavior "issues" (daydreaming, doodling, energy, etc....) should get much better.........Doesn't he know this??!!?? Also, we and specialist feel it's imperative that daughter be around other bright kids who understand, but how can that even happen when the g/t coordinator won't let her in the program to be around other bright kids??!!?? Sigh, I thought the g/t program was for gifted kids!!! I suspect our g/t coordianator wants what's best for him and hot have to deal with "true brightness" Anyways, excited to hear the outcome. Thanks for allowing me to vent!

Certainly not what you'd expect. Thanks for sharing the outcome and I hope the g/t coordinator will get past his initial resistance. Good luck and I look forward to hearing updates!
