Is skipping grades the only remedy you have because the GT program is just a pull out? DS's school is one of two elementary in the county that provide GT classes. The GT program is run under the Special education program. They have one class each of K-2,3rd, 4th, and 5th. To get a program like this using the Federal American's with Disabilities Act is one option. It may seem strange to consider being GT - PT a disability but it can work. ADA compliance in schools covers GT because these are students that need special accommodations to have a positive learning experience. If your county has enough students to make up classes it definitely could help in filing a demand for equal accommodation full time GT class and threat of ADA filing might be an in the pocket threat should reason not work....

    Hi everyone,

I thought I would again ask if anyone is aware of any recent legislation that affects gifted education in your state. I'm in the process of compiling the November eNews-Update (newsletter). We stay updated and in-the-know for the most part but there is the occasional legislation that slips through the cracks.

Here is our most recent newsletter that includes legislation: http://news.ditd.org/August_08/eNews_August08_web.htm

Also, find state-specific information on our Gifted State Policy map: http://www.davidsongifted.org/db/StatePolicy.aspx

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the info JB. We ended up covering that item in the eNews-Update that was just sent out: http://news.ditd.org/November_08/eNews_November08_web.htm.
