For something in a similar vein, you might want to try Chasing Vermeer and it's sequels, The Wright Three and The Calder Game. I really enjoyed this series, and both my son and daughter did as well.

My dd7 is reading it now and likes it. It is a little slow for her, she likes horror adventure books, go figure.. Another fabulous series is Lemony Snicket. They are a little dark but hysterical and well written. My dh read all of them to my girls 5 & 7 and they were entranced.

I'll have to check out Lemony Snicket -- thanks for reminding me. I think my gloom-and-doom ds6 would be all into that!
