We are doing something a little different this year in regards to K and skipping. Since our district ha strict age guidelines (MUST be 5 by Sept 30th for K and MUST be 6 by Sept 30th for 1st) DS5 was not allowed to skip K this year. We compromised with our school. He is officially in K in the morning and then goes to 1st grade in the afternoon for enrichment. He will go to 2nd grade next year because the age guidelines are only for K and 1st grade.

The jury is still out on whether or not this was a good choice.

Does the jury ever really come in?

I'm pushing 40, and my mom still second-guesses the educational choices she made for me 35+ years ago!
