Glasses are all the rage with the first graders this year. It seems like all the "cool" kids have them.:)

Sorry I am so remiss in adding comments. I've had "a" day. I can't believe what I do for these two lovlies! This is the first time I've sat down all day. Unfortunately, tomorrow is even busier. frown

Our optometrist's vision specialists use Brainware Safari for the vision therapy, which I believe has been extended for purchase at homsechoolbuyersco-op. Less than $50, as I recall.

Thanks! Her first appointment is next week. The plan is for her to go to the office every other week until December. She will have to do excercises at home every day, so I'm not sure what that will entail. I am also a member of the co-op, so thanks for the heads up.

St. Pauli. Little C has similar issue as your son. Obviously, no one can make a diagnosis on the net! grin But what you describe sounds like what is a visual discrimination issue that C has.

Interestingly, the Dr. from COVD administered developmental vision tests. In some areas, 6 yo C is developmentally on par with a 9yo. In a few others she is WAY behind. Kind of redefines asynchronistic development, dontcha think? wink

And BTW, Kriston, C's issues have to do with the fine muscle control of the eyes. She is farsighted and the Dr. observed that her eyes would actually cross while trying to make out near tasks, like reading. Interesting that quite a few of us have kids that seem to have the same fine muscle control issues..........

I took my reading glasses in to my optometrist today because there was a spot in the right lens that just wasn't right and I wanted him to fix them. After some retesting and such he said the glasses were fine, but my right eye was going all wacky when it got about 3/4 across the page. So now it is DS's job to:
make me do my eye exercises! crazy

LOL! The doctor thinks I'm going to have a hard time getting C to do her excercises every day. We should start an vision therapy excercise support group. grin
