The glymphatic system only works when we sleep. Basically, it operates by compressing brain cells and pumping cerebral spinal fluid into the brain. Yes it may. In addition, (this also has impacts on diabetes, heart disease, and other central obesity-related diseases) it helps regulate satiety/hunger signals.
