My daughters school district has 11,000 + students and nothing is mentioned on their website. My daughter showed me the sheet she was given in class. Not everyone got one. I'm guessing most parents know nothing about it

My son's middle school gives the AMC 8 to all 6th graders and above and then let the top 20 scorers take the AMC 10 when it is given in February.

The math teacher gets the AMC 8 scores back to the kids pretty quickly but as I posted earlier, the kids get their actual test booklet back a few days after they take the test. All of the kids circle their answers on the test booklet and then go to AoPS forums and the unofficial answers are usually posted within a week or so. This way they have a pretty good idea of their score rather quickly, unless they misbubbled...

The local public schools where we live do not offer the AMC 8, 10 or 12. I do not think many of the math teachers are even aware of this series of tests and the purpose.

We found out my daughter was the school high scorer on the last day of school when her home room teacher dropped the little award pin on her desk. (We didn't know about the website at that point....). In our school, they only invite some kids to take it, and don't say anything to parents at all. (Just found my son's invitation, plus a second hand-written one from his math teacher reminding him he needs to reply to get a spot, in a pile on his bedroom floor. Needless to say, he lost his spot, though I suspect it was intentional on his part- hard to be the younger sib sometimes. But I still wish we had been informed.)

As the first part of my post says, she received them in school the day before Christmas break. I suggest anyone looking for scores reach out to whomever sponsored the program where the test was taken and ask for the scores. They have been out for quite some time.

And fwiw, since we're discussing AMC8, it's the top 5%, plus top scorers of 15 or higher in 6th grade and lower, as discussed on page 2.

Side note: In doing some research I ran across the history of the program. I just realized that the "Annual High School Mathematics Examination" pin that I have, for being high scorer in 1982, is the same program. Like father like daughter, I suppose.

I have reached out to the math teacher who sponsored it. She is really busy with end-of-term grading and hasn't been able to get all of them graded yet (she accidentally had half the kids, not including DD, take it "unofficially" because she thought she was paying for a pack of 20 tests and accidentally got a pack of 10). Given that she is also the geometry teacher who is being fantastically accommodating of DD's anxiety, I haven't wanted to push too hard. I know that DD was not in the top 5% (I did check that list). We'll get them when we get them.

Always so glad when I decide to come back and post here.
Hope you receive your scores soon, Elizabeth.

Silly question. What is the official form of notification one get on the AMC8 test results. We got the unofficial score which was below the 95% percentile mark, but given how good the score was I want an official document stating the score and percentile. Do they issue such things?

Until last year they posted the results by state in each category, now its by country.

When I am looking for something in the list I upload a pdf and open it in acrobat and you can use the search function from there.

DS school is exactly like ruazkas explained. Everyone from 6th up take the AMC 8 in Math Class and top 20 scores get to take the AMC 10B in math class. They also give the AMC 10A after school on an invite bases or if you attend all the mathcounts practices to that point.

DS in 8th grade has taken both AMC 10s since 6th.

Local public schools here except for a handful with a high Asian population do not take any AMC tests.

There's a certificate for distinguished honor roll (top 1%), honor roll (top 5%) and achievement roll (at least scoring 15 as a 6th grader or below) respectively. For everyone else, there is a general participation certificate.
