DS took the AMC8 for the final time this year. He took twice before and scored in the high teens both times but he thinks this year he got a 24. His teacher gives back the hard copy of the test after a week or so has passed (DS marks his answers on the hard copy) and they can then check the answers against what the AoPS group comes up with as the "answer sheet".
I heard that this years test was supposed to be a bit easier as I think they are trying to get more kids taking the test which makes sense as the AMC8 is not really used to qualify for anything further like the AMC10 and AMC12. Up until this year the AMC8 was getting harder and harder each year per DS.
I think the stats got posted before Christmas in prior years, so they should be out soon. Good luck!

Last year, I got them in an email from the test administrator, but DD took it at a different school from hers. I suspect that this year I will hear it from her math teacher. They didn't come in the mail.

you can get the results here http://amc-reg.maa.org/reports/generalreports.aspxThey have not started posting them yet. And when they do it takes for ever. This years test was easier than last year. I guess it would depend on where your strengths fall.

I do know the statistics site. I was looking for the individual score for my DD. Do I have to go back to the test administrator? She did not take it at school since they do not offer it.

I understand now, sorry. My ds takes it during math class and they go over the solutions within the next day or two. He had to hand his test in, I don't think he ever got it back.
I guess if her name doesn't show up on the stat page under one of the categories then you would have to reach out to the administrator.
Did she get to keep her answer sheet or anything with the answers on it. If so you could check against AoPS.
I hope you find out soon. It would drive us crazy having to wait so long.

Unfortunately did not occur to me to ask her to retain anything :-(. I had assumed there is some formal score sheet you will get like in Explore etc. Do the kids not get something like that?

The official scores have not been sent back to the administrators/teachers as far as I know, but yes I think you would need to go back to that individual as we do not receive anything directly from MAA, instead DS teacher tells him his official score once he has it.

Statistics are up on the AMC page - https://amc-reg.maa.org/reports/generalreports.aspx . DD12 was told she finished second in our school, but not her actual score. I had to search for it online - Honors categories are listed (top 1%, top 5%), but I don't think you can find the score online if it's not 18 or higher. Top scorer at our school was another Hopkins SET student in 8th grade, also 2 years math accelerated - they seem to be paired in every ceremony, contest, etc.

Actually, you can find your child's name on the Achievement Roll if she scores 15 or higher and is below 7th grade. That used to be the first place I check because it's easier due to its much shorter list of names. Otherwise, you should request the score and/or answer sheet from the administrator. In my experience, the test adminstrators would have received their emails prior to the statistics uploading onto the MAA site.
