Does anyone know if there are MAP RIT grade level equivalents. If no such comparison exists, can anyone give insight to interpreting the scores?

A number and "HIGH" doesn't really tell me much expecially when high is anything over 80%. My DS7s school is so frustrating. I keep getting vague answers to my direct questions such as - "he's meeting local district benchmarks" and "he's proficient in both areas".

You can look at various charts with national norms, but what I find is most helpful is where the RIT score falls within your DC's school. That is, does your school release a report at a school board meeting about the RIT scores for each grade or student population? I have found this type of information to be the most helpful, since our school likes to boast that its students are above the national average (which is true). This way, even in a "high performing" school, you will know whether your student is scoring high, even within his school.

I had a similar question a couple of months ago. Here is the link to my post.

You may find some useful information from the responses. My DS7 (in first grade) took the K-2 MAP test in November and his scores put him at 99%. However, with that score and percentile, it was hard to tell which grade level he's really in. I am currently working with the school to have an accelerated plan for him. To determine which grade level he's in, they had him taking the MAP test 2-5 for math (scored 199), which put him right at the middle of school year for third grade (that's what the school told me). So I went online and checked myself. From the below chart, you can see that his score is at grade level for 3rd grade for the winter MAP test.
