    Not quite what I meant. If the school uses May as a cut off kids starting school before May will go to year 2 next year whereas kids after May will stay in year one (new entrants or year zero are officially year one. You want her to go into year 2 so she should start now. Technically I think placement is based of birthday but I don't think I would risk it.

    My oldest made our school's cut off by one day and went into year 2 at 5 and has just turned 8 in year 4. He is nearly always the youngest which helps except in writing.

    Thanks for the clarification- her school does new entrants then year 1/2 composite and 2/3 composite. not sure how they figure it out- but now I know to ask well
