    As I understand it the target for DYS is kid who meet the criteria (which include kids with a GAI of 145+)

    Unless extended norms or something are used the scale only goes up to 160 I think. If a child hits the ceiling on one subtest the GAI may actually understate the real ability.

    If we can put all the pieces together for our DS we will apply I think just to see if it is helpful.

    Yes. You need extended norms to exceed 160. The rule of thumb for moving to extended norms is two or more subtests at max scaled score (19 for younger children, 19 or occasionally 18 for middle school).

    I know this is an old thread, but can anyone tell me what the extended norms would included? My DD5 just had the WPPSI-IV and did hit 3 ceilings, 2 of which were included in her FSIQ and GAI. I don't believe they tested further than that. Should we ask for it?

    Possibly it would have been better to wait until she is six and used the WISC V. Do you need more than you have at this point?
