We are considering a move, anyone in California know about any elementary schools for gifted children?
Wondering if there's a small gem somewhere that we haven't heard about yet.

I'm not sure where in California you're considering, but if it's the SF Bay Area, this list contains a few schools.

Depends on where you are moving, California is a large state and the SF Area is very different from S. Cal. I do know a school in my area that is a private school for the gifted (S. Cal I can PM you the name). BUT the recommendation I was given from parents who tried it, I was told it was more a school for parents who have money and want a school for the gifted than kids who necessary were gifted. I can PM you the name, I don't think it's a bad school. Other parents told me that the local elementary had a better 4-6th grade program for the gifted. The public school program didn't really end up working well for my DS in the long run, but that is a long story.

I beleive the school you are referring to is Mirman.. And the whole money thing could not be further from the truth. It is the least money school in town (granted that might not be saying much in LaLa Land)...We attend there and at least 40% of the school is granted some kind of financial aid... That, plus there is a new head master who is the best head master in the city... The place has done a 180 in 2 years. It is magnificent! Can't say enough good things about it... And it gets better all the time. Getting in is really difficult as the applicants far out number the spots available. But that is true anywhere in LA. Before you judge something... Go check it out yourself! You will be glad you did. I can't speak for people who, sadly, had a negative experience there, but we are thrilled to be there and very happy with the results thus far.
