This morning my DS3 (4 in late Feb) is going to be tested with our local school psych. I can't believe it. It's been a long journey. First we had a beautiful, fussy, smart baby we were in love with, he became a toddler obsessed with letters and puzzles (etc., etc.), then came the denial for us that he was different than his peers. 2 and 3 have been two years of cognitive leaps for him and emotional leaps for all of us. Finally arrived at the decision to test, even at 3, knowing the variables-he may not like the testing, possibly too young for accurate numbers. Discussion with his doctor, psychologist and so many wonderful parents in this forum, we finally reached someone at our school district who believed us and was interested in testing him to inform school placement decisions. Regardless of what the outcome will be, I am just so relieved to reach this day. It's my first big advocacy accomplishment.
